Great, i´m FINALIST of "Ten images for Ithaca"
Y seleccionaron el que menos me esperaba, si, asi es, esta fue mi tercera propuesta para el concurso "Ten images for Ithaca" cuyo tema de este año es "Etiqueta"; He tenido la suerte de haber sido seleccionado entre los 150 (de 1700 participantes) y la verdad es que no esperaba que escogieran ese cartel ya que los otros dos eran mas originales(para mi punto de vista).
Este cartel lo hice en nombre de muchos colombianos que estan en Europa y se encuentran "etiquetados" de varias formas; a veces el simple hecho de haber nacido ahi significa que somos todas estas "etiquetas" que muestra el cartel y automáticamente se te juzga en muchos sentidos. Yo lo vivi recién llegado, pero poco a poco aprendes a tolerarlo y a entender que en parte es ignorancia y tambien la misma politica en general, obviamente no todos en Europa son asi, pero conozco casos muy tristes. Solo espero que este cartel sea lo bastante claro, que sepan lo que sentimos cada vez que queremos entrar a casi la total mayoria de los paises del mundo, no es cuestion de criticar, solo una forma de expresion grafica como lo es un cartel.
Ahora tengo la posibilidad de poder ganar, todo depende del jurado; aunque en esta edición tengo la posibilidad de ser ganador en la categoria SELECCION DEL PUBLICO hecha por Absolut Vodka (el vodka de toda la vida) y cuento contigo para que gane el mio.

Finally i was selected to be finalist of "Ten images for Ithaca", yes it is, it was my third option i submitted. remember that the theme of this year is "Label". And i cant believe i´ve been lucky to be selected betwen 1700 participants.
and to be honest, i didnt expect they chose this poster, since the other two were more originals (its my point of view) This poster is made on behalf of many Colombians who are in Europe and are "labeled" in many ways, sometimes the simple fact of being colombian means we are all these "labels" that shows the poster and will automatically be judged many ways.
I lived just arrived, but gradually learn to tolerate and understand it, is partly also the same ignorance and politics in general, obviously not everyone in Europe is like this, but I know very sad cases. I just hope this poster is sufficiently clear, and show how we feel every time we want to go or enter almost full most of the countries of the world, is not a question of criticizing, only one form of graphic expression.
Now i have the chance to win, everything depends on the jury, although in this edition I have the chance to be winner in "ABSOLUT People's Choice Award" (vodka lifetime) and rely on you to earn mine.

TEN IMAGES FOR ITHACA
These are our submitions[ESP]Es un concurso de carteles que convocan cada año en Grecia, el tema este año es "etiqueta" y se tiene que presentar en un formato especial alargado...como un kakemono.
Una etiqueta es un identificador de algo o de un contenido. Etiquetar quiere decir nombrar. Es el instinto humano por agrupar, categorizar con caracteristicas que tienen similitud y se nombra como un todo. Vivimos en un mundo lleno de etiquetas. Hay etiquetas asociadas con el consumo de productos o con moda. La gente se etiqueta entre ellos mismos para darle sentido a un grupo, pero tambien se etiqueta gente solo por racismo, xenofobia, discriminacion politica y religiosa, etc. ¿Cual es de rol de las etiquetas en tu vida? ¿como puede una etiqueta describir el mundo en el que vives? ¿puede una etiqueta dar un infinito numero de experiencias, sentimientos y deseos que se resuman en cada ser humano?
Esta vez trabajé en grupo con mi novia (tambien diseñadora) para desarrollar la idea, el concepto y el diseño del poster.

[ENG]This is a Greek poster competition and the theme this year is "Label". and we have to design this theme on special format...like a kakemono.
A label is any kind of tag attached to something so as to identify the object or its content. Labeling means naming. It is human instinct to group things with what they are most similar and name them as a whole. We live in a world filled with labels antagonising each other to win our preference. There are labels associated with consumer products and fashion. People voluntarily label themselves in order to have a sense of belonging to a group, but there also labels that people use to categorize others stemming from feelings of racism and xenophobia, political and religious discrimination, etc. What is the role of these labels in your life? How can a label describe the world you live in? Can a label give the infinite set of experiences, beliefs and desires that summarise each human being?
This time i worked with my girlfriend (she also designer) to develope the idea, concept and design the posters.

He estado explorando mas estilos para dibujar pelos, en este caso me gusta el resultado. Afortunadamente tenía mi moleskine y lapiz a la mano :)
